specialty fairs

To best serve our customers who wish to meet specific needs or interests in their communities, Bookworm Central has set up a Specialty Fair division. Specialty Fairs fundraise for your organization with a wide selection of titles relevant to the specific subject area you have requested. Example of such fairs include:

STEM Fairs

STEM-centric book fairs were among the first specialty fair requests which Bookworm Central had the privilege to serve—even before we had created a separate category for specialty fairs! Interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics continues to grow, and we are ready to meet your needs with a collection of fun and educational books, games, and other resources refined by long experience into our current STEM Fair. We even offer a STEAM variation, which includes the arts as a fifth element.

Educational Game Fairs

In 2003, Bookworm Central began testing the potential of educational games, selecting the cream of the crop to incorporate into our book fairs. The response we received has been overwhelmingly positive, so now we offer fair that doesn't just incorporate educational games and toys, but puts them into the spotlight!

Advanced Academic Resource Fairs

Some students need more mental stimulation than they receive working with grade-level materials alone. Bookworm Central understands these students' need for enhanced academic resources that match their abilities—the Advanced Academic Resource Fair serves this need with a cornucopia of expertly selected texts and tools, customized to your specifications.

Celebrating Diversity Fairs

In this increasingly globalized world, it becomes increasingly important to appreciate and respect the diversity of cultures and experiences that span the human condition. Through literature and family games, Bookworm Central's Celebrating Diversity Fair offers your community a taste of the world's beautiful heterogeneity, far more complex and vibrant than television and popular media would ever have you believe.

Educational Material Fairs

Students aren't the only ones who enjoy book fairs! Bookworm Central seeks to serve adults as well, using our experience and connections to provide reliable, well-regarded resources for the teachers and educators in your organization. The Educational Material Fair offers single copies of each title for easy display. Educators may place orders for their desired titles; we will ship the materials to you within three weeks.

Parenting Material Fairs

Bookworm Central has always extended the option to include a small selection of parenting books in general onsite book fairs. The popularity of these materials convinced us to expand that option into a full-blown subclass of our specialty fairs. As with the Educational Material Fair, the Parenting Material Fair provides single copies of each title, offering a wide variety of materials in a single compact event.

Required Reading Fairs

Bookworm Central recognizes the importance of connecting students with books they need. A Required Reading Fair offers students and their families a convenient opportunity to buy those books—no more excuses!—while supporting their school into the bargain.

Foreign Language Fairs

Whether your interest in languages is academic or closer to home, Bookworm Central is pleased to offer the Foreign Language Fair. We boast a wide-ranging, thousand-strong collection of Spanish titles, as well as nineteen other languages popular with immersion schools, language classes, and local communities—and we don't plan on stopping there. French? German? Gujarati? Vietnamese? Let us know what you need!

As with our other fundraisers, we are happy to offer our services in customizing both the title selection and the shopping experience at our specialty fairs. To schedule a specialty fair with us, simply contact us and specify the type of fair you would like to hold.

Our philosophy

We believe that good literature has the power to provoke thought, spark imagination, and shape character. It reinforces the concepts essential to civilized society: courage, compassion, integrity, goodness and gratitude. Books bring these gifts to life, helping children develop inner resources that can be drawn upon throughout their lives.

“With Bookworm as our Book Fair vendor, I know the selection of books will be high quality in every regard. In fact, I feel confident enough in this to allow Norwood Middle School students to count any book purchased at our Book Fair as part of their summer reading requirement.” Sue Gail Spring, Head Librarian, Norwood School
“Bookworm consistently offers our students an outstanding selection of quality literature. What other company previews each and every book in its collection?” Karen Kelly, St. Mary’s Catholic School, Alexandria
“We hear time and time again from parents and teachers that our fairs provide an excellent selection of quality books, both fiction and non-fiction. Valerie Van Note-Kreider, Bookfair Coordinator, Nysmith School
“The thing I appreciate most about Bookworm(besides their excellent staff and excellent responsiveness) is that we can almost customize our bookfair to suit the needs of our students, teachers and parents.” Jeanne Rucks, Wolftrap ES, Vienna VA
“Staff, parents, and students were all impressed and in awe of the quality and selection of books on offer. There was an excitement and buzz about the school all week. Children running to me with checks, reporting back to me that they had already finished the book they bought the day before, and often parents popping in more than once to purchase…. the POS system was a breeze. I trained different volunteers every two hours, each day, and it was very manageable to everyone.” Kristin Teeters, Librarian, British School of Washington
